This hunter has encountered a deer in the final stages of CWD in deer. It’s a prion which is smaller than a virus, and affects the brain which wrecks the normal fear and feeding of the deer. Without normal thought processes, the deer feeds ineffectively and loses weight. Eventually it just stands there.
